Alan Webb is the latest big name to be confirmed for the Celtic Cup. He will also compete at the "Sunday Mail" Scottish National Championships where he will run the 800m and he will then follow this up with running the Falkirk Dream Mile at Celtic Cup in Falkirk on Thursday August 17th. Alan's boasts impressive personal bests of 800m - 1:46.53 (2004); mile - 3:48.92 (2005); 1500m - 3:32.52 (2005); 3000m - 7:39.28 (2005) and with his inclusion in the 800m it is sure to be one of the events to watch at the National Championships and with him running in the dream mile, the Celtic Cup looks set for a number of sub 4min miles. The impressive addition to the international field which now includes fellow American, three times World champion Tyree Washington, the two Americans are joined by Olympic medallist sprinter Merlene Ottey (Slovenia), Olympic silver medallist long jumper James Beckford (Jamaica) and Olympic 4x100m gold medallist Darren Campbell (England) as a guest at the international match featuring Scotland, Ireland, Wales and a Bank of Scotland Development Team. Scotland will be captained by Commonwealth and European medallist Lee McConnell. The Celtic Cup, supported by Falkirk Council, will be televised live by BBC Scotland from 7-9pm and available for the first time steamed from the BBC website.
