The first two mile leg saw Alan McCormack (9:26) of DSD put his club in the lead with Mick Clohisey (9:28) of Raheny Shamrock and Aidan Bailey (9.32), Clonliffe Harriers, closely behind. On the second one mile leg Kevin Moriarty, (4:24) brought Raheny into the lead with Conor Healy of Clonliffe (4:20) close behind. The crucial three mile circuit saw Colm Rooney of Clonliffe pull away from Vinny Mulvey to give James Nolan a good ten second lead over Raheny. Nolan duly extended the lead, running the fastest two laps of the day in 9:24 to secure the title for Clonliffe. A great sprint finish ensued for third place as Paul Flemming of Rathfarnham outsprinted DSD's John Eves to win the bronze medals for his team. Despite missing out in the senior men the host club Raheny Shamrock scooped the remaining three team titles available earlier in the day. All of these races consisted of a 1 by 2 by 1 lap format. The master women was first up on the afternoon programme and a team consisting of Brid UiChonaill, Annette Kealy and Barbara Hanrahan took victory for Raheny in 22:47. Last year's winners, Na Fianna, finished second, with Rathfarnham/WSAF filling the third position. Raheny were again in the driving seat in the master men's with Raheny's Eoin Brady, Mick Traynor and Stephen Nolan combining to clock 19:40 to win the title. Only four seconds adrift were Finn Valley with Tallaght taking bronze. Athlete of the championships was Annette Kealy who having run and won in the masters event earlier in the programme,set Raheny Shamrock's senior women on their course to team gold. Having run the fastest two lap circuit of the day, (11:03,) including the senior women, Kealy followed this up with the fastest one lap time of 5:18. Orla O'Mahoney ,(11:07), and Susan Byrne, (5:24), made up the rest of the winning trio. Eagle A.C. and Rathfarnham/WSAF finished second and third respectively.
