New Irish 4X100m junior record Amongst the many excellent performances by the Irish junior team in Mannheim was the new Irish record by the 4X100m women's relay team. Joan Healy, Eilish Fitzpatrick, Jane Dickenson, and Niamh Whelan broke the 2004 record of 45.97 with a new mark of 45.95, and that compares very favourably with the 45.14 clocked by the senior team in Leiria. The quality of Ciara Mageean's 4:22.29 for 1,500m is seen by comparing it with the Irish youth's record of 4:19.94 set by Carol Meagan back in 1979.
