The European Athletics Indoor Championships Istanbul 2023 take place from March 2nd – 5th and RTE SPORT will bring you comprehensive live coverage across the 4 days.
It promises to be another hugely exciting championships with seven reigning Olympic champions from Tokyo 2020, as well as 18 individual gold medallists from the Munich 2022 all set to take their place.
The seven Olympic champions due to compete are: Lamont Marcell Jacobs (60m), Karsten Warholm (400m), Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500/3000m), Miltiadis Tentoglou (long jump) and Pedro Pichardo (triple jump) on the men’s side and Malaika Mihambo (long jump) and Nafissatou Thiam (pentathlon) among the women.
Ireland will have fifteen athletes, including a relay team, taking to European competition across the busy 4 days.
The Irish team includes twice European Indoor 800m medallist Mark English, World Indoor 60m Hurdles finalist Sarah Lavin, Commonwealth Games Hepathlon medallist Kate O'Connor and recent national 60m record breaker Israel Olatunde. The Women's 4x400m relay team is included as one of only six qualifying nations and will compete in a straight final.
