Another day of glorious sunshine, generously interspersed with heavy downpours of rain, was the order of the day at the Woodie’s DIY Combined Events and B championships at Tullamore today. The day once again produced some terrific performances in each of the age groups, although one athlete paid dearly for mistaking the start time of one event. Youghal’s Michael Healy was an impressive winner of the under 17 octathlon, winning five of the eight events, placing second in two and third in the other, for a grand total of 4819 points. Roisin Howard from Grange Fermoy was another in fine form to comfortably win the under 18 heptathlon, while Ciara Barrett, Stephen Comiskey, and Conor McLaughlin all had good wins.
