World 50K Championships

The World 50K Championships take place in Doha, Qatar on December 4th.  This is the first time the event has been designated as the World Championship and should be hotly contested.  Ireland is represented by Gary O’Hanlon and Barry Minnock in the men’s event while London Olympian Caitriona Jennings starts in the women’s event.  Gary has pedigree over 50K having finished 5th in the equivalent event in 2014.  He also set a new Irish record for the distance when winning the national title in February.  Barry and Caitriona are experienced athletes who will hope to perform strongly also.

Kevin Belton and Gary McConville will provide support for the team as they navigate the ten laps of the 5K course.
