The three athletes in action on Day 5 of the World championships in Osaka may not have produced the results we all hoped for, but their performances over the season proved that they are all on the verge of greater things. Mary Cullen was first in action in the second heat of the 5,000m and she stayed in contention for one of the qualifying spots until half a mile to go or so. She finished 11th in 15:40.53. Once you throw over 70m you know you can be there or thereabouts in any major championships, especially in the final, when there will be more pressure on the bigger girls who are medallists". "I am just so happy to be in the final. I will definitely give it my all. If I can get up close to my 73m I will be delighted — see if I can get into the top eight, get another three throws and take it from there." "To get a medal I would say 76 metres will take first place and after that who knows what will happen in a championships," she said.
