Ailis McSweeney exits at semi final stage Cork athlete Ailis McSweeney has failed in her bid to reach tomorrow’s 60-metre final at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia. McSweeney finished a disappointing 7th in her semi-final this afternoon in a time of 7.46 which was slightly slower than she ran in the heat this morning and eight tenths of a second off her best time this year. Ireland’s hopes now lie with Tullamore Harriers runner James Nolan, who competes in the heats of the 1500-metres this evening at 7:00pm Irish time. 1 5 Ene Franca Idoko NGR 7.10 Q 0.143 2 4 Yevgeniya Polyakova RUS 7.20 Q 0.155 3 3 LaVerne Jones-Ferrette ISV 7.24 0.213 4 1 Lena Berntsson SWE 7.26 (PB) 0.155 5 2 Verena Sailer GER 7.28 0.129 6 6 Ivet Lalova BUL 7.31 (SB) 0.144 7 7 Ailis Mc Sweeney IRL 7.46 0.161 8 8 Nina Kovacic SLO 7.47 0.168
