Gregan leads Irish charge in Poland Brian Gregan has qualified for the final of the 400m at the World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland today. Brian GreganBrian Gregan The Tallaght AC runner managed to clock an impressive time of 46.88 in wet conditions to take second place behind Niklas Zender of Germany. The Irish Junior 400m record holder now advances to the final tomorrow evening with a good chance of taking a medal. Elsewhere, Ferrybank AC duo Kalyn Sheehan and Jessica Barr failed to qualify for the semi-final in the 400m Hurdles. Sheehan missed out on the semis by one spot although she set a new personal best of 59.88, while Barr came in a disappointing 5th in her heat in a time of one minute flat Leitrim’s Laura Reynolds had a mixed result in the final of the 10K walk. Reynolds recorded a new personal best time of 51.58:15 but only managed to finish the race in 30th. Along with Brian Gregan taking part in the 400m final, there are two other Irish in action tomorrow. Pamela Hughes is in the final of the High Jump, while Niamh Whelan will hope to put the disappointment of missing out on qualification for the 100m semi-finals yesterday, when she lines up in the 200m heats.
