Three-Time World Championship Gold Medallist Tyree Washington is the latest major name to confirm his participation at the Celtic Cup
at Grangemouth Stadium on Thursday 17 August. The American joins multiple Olympic medallist sprinter Merlene Ottey (Slovenia), Olympic silver medallist long jumper James Beckford (Jamaica) and Olympic 4x100m gold medallist Darren Campbell (England) as a guest at the international match featuring Scotland, Ireland, Wales and a Bank of Scotland Development Team. Washington, who won 400m gold at the 2003 World Indoor Championships (ahead of Paul McKee in 3rd and David McCarthy in 5th), 4x400m gold at the 1997 World Championships and 4x400m gold at the 2006 World Indoor Championships will race over the unusual distance of 600m for the first time ever. The teams representing the participating nations will be announced in the coming days; Scotland will be captained by Commonwealth and European medallist Lee McConnell.
