Oisin and Aisling living in the fast Lane
The final National Championships of 2025 delivered an exciting day of race walking at St Anne’s Park in Raheny (Dec 14th). With over 300 entries from 30 countries, the event marked a historic moment as the last edition of the 20km distance before the transition to the Half Marathon format in 2026.
Men’s National 20km Highlights
- Champion: Oisín Lane (Mullingar Harriers) lived up to expectations, winning in 1:25:38, capping off a stellar season that included a strong World Championships performance.
- Runner-up: Joe Mooney (Adamstown A.C.) finished close behind in 1:27:48, showing excellent late-season form.
- Notable Performance: Matthew Glennon (Mullingar Harriers) clocked 1:38:14, a personal best, underlining his progress at senior level.
Women’s 20km Highlights
- Winner: Aisling Lane (Mullingar Harriers) claimed her first senior national title in 1:46:50, stepping up impressively in Kate Veale’s absence.
- Second Place: Éabha de Faoite (Kenmare A.C.) delivered a strong debut performance with 1:53:14 (PB).
Other notable performances on the day included that of Moy Valley AC’s Seamus Clarke who the U20 10,000m title at the final national championship of 2025. Clarke was first over the line in a personal best time of 43.17. He was also first in the international field, which puts him on firm footing for the 2026 season.
Impressing in the women’s U20 race were the Tuam pair of Holly Shaughnessy (Tuam) 54:09 PB and Ciara Gilmore (Tuam) 56:09 PB
