Next week over 2,500 teenage girls from across Ireland will take part in the Girls Squad schools programme. Now in it’s 5th year, this programme is growing and each year more girls and schools take part. The programme is designed to include a variety of athletics elements as well as self-learning and development around the menstrual cycle, mental health, sports bras and more.
The programme is teacher led and fully resourced including session plans, on-line resources, journals for the girls and merchandise. The programme is for all girls, and it aims to get girls active and moving without the pressures of competition. Part of the HER Moves programme under Sport Ireland, this is one of the most successful teenage girls programmes in schools today.
