Athletics Ireland Juvenile Committee will be selecting teams for the upcoming Celtic Cross Country/Home Nations International U17 event on Saturday February 7th, 2026, in Parliament Hill near London. Selection criteria as follows.
The first four eligible athlete’s male and female over the line at the U16 National Inter Club Cross Country Championships in Templemore Sports Complex Derry 23rd November 2025, will be selected for the Celtic International/Home Nations XC U17 race as the Athletics Ireland team.
If any of the first four athletes are not available, then the next best placed finisher will be selected until the team is complete. The next four eligible athlete’s male and female over the line at the U16 National Inter Club Cross Country Championships in Templemore Sports Complex Derry on 23rd November 2025, will be selected for the Celtic /Home Countries International XC U17 race as the Athletics Ireland development team. If any of these four athletes are not available, then the next best placed finisher will be selected until the development team is complete. Team selection is available to all eligible U16 athlete’s male & female from all provinces who compete in the National U16 Championships in Templemore Sports Complex Derry 23rd November 2025. All selected athletes must agree to remain in training until February 7th and travel with the team on Friday February 6th in preparation for the event the following day.
