Biofreeze will also become title sponsor of the Biofreeze Athletics Ireland Race Series and the Biofreeze Great Ireland Run

Biofreeze and Athletics Ireland have jointly announced a new three-year partnership that will see Biofreeze become the Official Recovery Partner to Athletics Ireland. Biofreeze is a brand owned by Reckitt. Biofreeze provides cold therapy pain relief for sore muscles, sore joints, backache and arthritis. It comes in a variety of formats such as spray, gels and roll-on and is available at pharmacies and retail outlets throughout Ireland.

Biofreeze will become title sponsor of several high-profile running events including the Biofreeze Great Ireland Run, The Biofreeze Irish Runner 5k (incorporating the National 5k Championships), The Biofreeze Irish Runner 5 Mile (incorporating the National 5 Mile Championships) and The Biofreeze Irish Runner 10 Mile (incorporating the National 10 Mile Championships). These events take place annually in the Phoenix Park and attract thousands of runners from across the country.

Irish 400m star, Sharlene Mawdsley, has been appointed ambassador to Biofreeze who will support her in her ambition to represent Ireland at the 2024 Paris Games.

Athletes taking part in these events should keep an eye out for the Biofreeze Zone before and after races where Biofreeze’s cold therapy pain relief formats will be available to ensure runners are ready to go the extra mile as well as providing effective pain relief once the race is complete.

Head of Marketing at Reckitt Charl Malan said: “With a huge year of athletics ahead, Biofreeze is delighted to come on board as an official partner to Athletics Ireland and to support Sharlene as she aims to secure her place in Paris this Summer. We’re looking forward to helping athletes of all ability to achieve their own personal goals, recover better and overcome the all too commonly experienced aches and pains that can get in the way.”

Athletics Ireland’s Marketing, Communication and Sponsorship Manager, Daragh Browne stated: “Everyone at Athletics Ireland is delighted to welcome Biofreeze on board as a partner for the next three years. It is a hugely exciting time for athletics in Ireland and we’re thrilled to be working with Biofreeze who support our vision to inspire the nation to be active, healthy and to perform through athletics.”

Also supporting this year’s Biofreeze Athletics Ireland Race Series will be Active Cities Dublin whose mission is to create opportunities for citizens to lead healthier lifestyles in the context of sport & physical activity.
