Orla Comerford doubled down on her T13 100m success to win her second gold medal at the 2025 Para Athletics World Championships in New Delhi.
She once again edged out Brazilian sprinter Da Silva, who broke the world record in both the 100m and 200m this year to claim the top spot.
Speaking after the race Comerford said: “The goal for me here was to try and win that 100 for me the 200 was the cherry on top. After Monday night I was just like it’s there, I feel good I feel strong and I think as well the Brazilian broke the world record in both the 100 and the 200 in the summer so I knew that coming out and beating her in the 100 would put down a mark. I wanted to put my stamp on that (100m) and show that I’m here to contend.”
Tomorrow Lana Sutton has a late heat for her T38 100m in the evening session. Should she qualify for the final she will be the last Irish athlete in competition on Oct 2nd.
