Paul McKee's victory in the 400 metres in 46.28 at the Dublin International on Saturday in extremely blustery conditions at the Morton Stadium was the highlight of the meeting. Paul had the huge satisfaction in the last 50 metres of overhauling Ofentse Mogawane, South Africa who last Sunday ran 45.11 for the distance. David McCarthy will also be pleased with run of 46.61 for 3rd while Brian Doyle a relay member for Gothenburg had a new best of 47.12. A victory in the 200 metres for Paul Hession, back from injury, over Morne Nagel, South Africa was a satisfying return to competition. Paul ran 21.21 into the stiff breeze to defeat Nagel in 21.38 with David Gillick a splendid 3rd in 21.61. The most exciting race of the afternoon was the women's 200 metres where Heide Seyerling South Africa just edged out Anna Boyle on the line 24.01 to 24.02. The slow early pace and the strong breeze militated against fast times in the Morton Mile which was won impressively by Johan Cronje, South Africa ( 4.00.79 ) from last year's winner Youcef Abdi, Australia ( 4.01.40 ) and Anthony Famiglietti , USA 3rd in 4.01.91. There was another great battle in the men's long jump with the national form reversed Darragh O'Farrell 7.41 metres from Stephen Fleming 7.36 metres this time. Kelly Proper broke her own junior long jump record with 6.10 metres .There were easy victories in the high jump for Deirdre Ryan 1.80metres while Eileen O'Keeffe won the hammer with 67.10 metres.Eileen had a marginal foul of 69.80 metres which indicates her national record could be broken in the near future. The Waterford Crystal athletes of the meeting were Paul McKee and Heide Seyerling
