The Irish men's 4*400m team are in Namur, Belgium ahead of their first qualification attempt on the relay standard for Beijing. In order to qualify the aggregate of the team's 2 best times must rank in the top 16 in the World. The men's team of David Gillick, Paul McKee, Gordon Kennedy, Brian Doyle and Brian Gregan will be aiming to get close to the National record of 3.03.73 which was set in 2002. They will face tough opposition including a Belgian national team fresh from a 3.02.51 performance a fortnight ago and a first choice South African team. Like the women's team who recorded an impressive 3:33.42 in Turin last weekend, they will then go on to the European Cup next week to secure their second time and hopefully qualification. You can leave a message of support for the team on the Project 400 Website.
