Saturday saw the first Long Term Athlete Development workshop delivered in 2025. 27 coaches attended the workshop led by Irene Clark.
The workshop included theory and practical elements to support coaches who are working with endurance based female club runners. This included information on nutrition, hormones, training considerations and recovery.
Irene took the group through warm up exercises, plyometrics and some basic sessions, all tailored to working with women experiencing menopause.
The workshop focuses on how to deliver and design training plans and sessions for women who want to achieve their potential in running. It’s aim is to provide coaches with the practical tools to bring back to their club coaching sessions.
Donal Fallon, Mount Hillary A.C said of the workshop ‘It was exactly what I needed for developing a coaching program and philosophy in our club. I took away some fantastic ideas of structuring group training for the ladies in our club’.
The coaches all received an e-book on competition.
The next course is planned for Midleton on the 8th February
