The 123.ie National Novice and Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships promise to deliver another exciting day of athletics this coming Sunday (Dec 7th).

A bumper entry of over 1750 juvenile athletes will battle it out for honours during the morning session before the ultra-competitive looking novice races take centre stage.

The race for team titles in the men’s novice race will be hotly contested with GCH, Finn Valley, and a strong contingent of clubs from Dublin sure to be right in contention.

Eanna Moynihan Ó Bradaigh (Dundrum South Dublin AC) was 6th in the race last year and could be the one to head the DSD charge, while Cian Hodgins (Nenagh Olympic AC) finished inside the top ten u23s at the recent cross country in Derry and could make his presence felt.

The race for the team title in the novice women’s race looks wide open with formidable looking teams from Clonliffe, DCH, GCH, Raheny, and Leevale sure to be to the fore.

The race for individual honours looks just as hard to call with several athletes heading into the weekend on the back of strong performances including Tara McDonough (North Down AC) who crossed as 6th u23 in Derry two weeks previous.

Laura Cooney ( Clonmel AC) was fourth in the race last year and will have sights set on moving up the placings, while few would rule out chances of the talented Fiona Hawkins (Dublin City Harriers AC) and Eimear McCarroll (Finn Valley AC). Stephanie Cotter (West Muskerry AC) is another intriguing entry.

The U19 races get underway from 14.00pm with the girl’s race having the potential to be one of the races of the day with Pia Langton (Kilkenny City Harriers), Dearbhla Allen (St. Peter’s AC), Emily Bolton (Clonliffe Harriers), Isa McCarron (Lagan Valley), and Caoimhe Flannery (Skibbereen AC) all entered.

The U19 boy’s race is also stacked with talented athletes. Caolan McFadden (Cranford AC), Harry McKenzie (Enniskillen RC), Odhran McBrearty (Finn Valley AC), and Tom Fleming (CNDR Track AC) are all entered.

There’s no shortage of exciting talent in the U17 races with Madison Welby (City of Lisburn AC), Ally Duffy (Tullamore Harriers AC), Holly Renton (Westport AC), Freya Renton (Westport AC), David Frazer (Craughwell AC), and Ruby Devereaux (Youghal AC) just some of the names to look out for across both races.
