Athletics Ireland Membership Reaches Record 75,078 in 2025
Athletics Ireland is proud to announce another historic milestone, closing out 2025 with a record 75,078 members – the highest in the organisation’s history. This marks a 7% increase on 2024’s record-breaking total, reflecting the continued growth and appeal of athletics across the country.
Commenting on the achievement, Dermot McGranaghan, National Club Development Manager, said: “To see our membership grow by over 5,000 in just one year is a phenomenal achievement. It’s a testament to the tireless work of our clubs, coaches, and volunteers who continue to inspire participation at every level. The performances of our athletes on the international stage, combined with the strength of our grassroots programmes, have created real momentum across the sport.”
- The 75,000th member of 2025 was Rian Farrell of North Sligo AC.
This surge in membership highlights the success of Athletics Ireland’s development initiatives, including record numbers of coaches trained through education programmes and increased engagement at schools and community level.
Athletics Ireland extends its sincere thanks to our clubs, volunteers, and members for their dedication and passion, as well as to Sport Ireland, our sponsors, and partners for their continued support of Irish athletics.
