Transworld Sport To Feature Jason Smyth

Irish Paralympic sprinter Jason Smyth will feature on this week’s edition of Transworld Sport on Sky Sports and Channel 4. Jason, from Derry competes in the T13 category and is reigning world champion and world record holder at both 100m and 200m. Jason secured the titles and records at the 2006 International Paralympic Committee World Championships in Assen, Holland running 10.86sec in the 100m, and 21.83 sec in the 200m. Jason hopes to represent Ireland at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing which gets underway on September 6th and runs for ten days. Currently the Irish team for Beijing numbers 33. The final team will be selected and announced by the Paralympic Council of Ireland in late June. Transworld Sport, which is transmitted in over 100 countries worldwide will be broadcast at 10.30pm on Sky Sports 3 on Wednesday 6th Feb, and repeated on Thursday 7th Feb at 9am again on Sky Sports 3. It will also be shown at 6.35am on Channel 4 on Sunday 10th Feb.
