Athletics Ireland is excited to announce the selection process for the national team that will compete in the 2025 IAU 24H World Championships in Albi, France. We are committed to assembling a competitive team of both men and women athletes to represent Ireland on the world stage. The team size will be confirmed at the final selection meeting.
Athlete Contribution: Selected athletes will be required to contribute towards the funding of this event. The exact amount will depend on the final team size.
Selection Criteria: To be considered for selection, athletes must meet the following criteria:
- Achieve the minimum qualifying distance of 220km for men and 200km for women within the 24 months preceding the competition date (by October 18, 2023).
- Demonstrate consistent performance in races of similar distances.
- Provide proof of current form with results from races of 6 hours or longer:
- 6-hour distance: 80km for men / 71km for women (IAU National Standard)
- 12-hour distance: 133km for men / 121km for women (IAU National Standard)
- Achieved distances/results in an IAU-labelled race.
- Be eligible to compete for Ireland (hold an Irish passport).
- Be a registered member of an Athletics Ireland affiliated club.
- Be injury-free.
Expressions of Interest: Athletes must submit their expressions of interest by Friday, April 18th. The final team will be announced during the first week of May. Please note that declaring an interest does not guarantee selection.

N.B. The Irish 24hr championships will be held in Leixlip , County Kildare on Saturday 05th April.
