Thousands set to ‘remember’ in the Phoenix Park

5 November 2025

The Remembrance Run 5K supported by 123.ie and Evergreen Care returns to Phoenix Park this Sunday, November 9th, with thousands set to walk and run in memory of loved ones passed. Now in its 14th year, this unique event blends movement with memory, offering a space for healing, reflection, and celebration of life.

Founded by Frank Greally in memory of his friend, the late sportswriter Con Houlihan, the Remembrance Run 5K has become a cherished tradition. With choirs, poetry, music, and a powerful One-Minute Silence, it’s more than a race—it’s a day of connection and remembrance.

“We all have a primal wish to be remembered.” – Con Houlihan

Participants will experience:

  • 🎶 Live choirs, music, poetry, and song
  • 📝 Wall of Remembrance to write names and messages
  • 📽️ Big Screen displaying submitted photos and tributes
  • ⏱️ One-Minute Silence before the start
  • 🎵 Theme songI’m Still Close By, co-written by Frank Greally & Noel O’Grady, inspired by Edna O’Brien’s wish to be remembered “fondly”

A Day of Community and Compassion

Supported by 123.ie and Evergreen Care, the event also raises funds for The Daily Mile, a 15-minute walk/run initiative in Irish primary schools. In 2024, over €33,000 was raised for charities close to participants’ hearts.
