An exciting day of athletics awaits us today with no less than 10 Irish athletes seeking to make their mark on the European Championships. The middle distance athletes will seek to emulate Liam Reale's success in the 1500m by progressing in their respective events. The morning will kick off with the women's 3000m steeplechase featuring Roisin McGettigan and Fionnuala Britton trying to advance to Saturday's final. Later on in the morning our most promising male 800m runners, Thomas Chamney and Dave Campbell, will toe the line eager to qualify for Friday's semi-final. Later on in the evening will see Alistair Cragg feature in the 5000m semi final where he should progress to Sunday's final. Derval O' Rourke will start her fight for a European outdoor medal with round one of the hurdles kicking off this morning. Meanwhile all eyes will be on Joanne Cuddihy as she takes part in the 400m final later on this evening which will see her start in lane 1. Elsewhere Paul Hession will seek to make his way out of the semi-finals and gain a coveted spot in the men's 200m final to be held later on this evening.
