Awards 2019

The Juvenile Star Awards for 2019 took place on Saturday evening at the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore. President of the Athletics Association of Ireland, Georgina Drumm welcomed all to the event and thanked everyone who was involved in helping these young athletes to reach this high point in their sport. Parents and guests gathered to honour the Star athletes hailing from 30 counties across Ireland.

Each was presented with a beautiful crystal vase by John McGrath, Chair of the Juvenile committee, courtesy of our sponsors Arena Crystal in Waterford. Trophies were awarded to the athletes who had excelled in their chosen disciplines and a commemorative glass piece was presented. Guest of honour was Billy Delaney, President of the Irish Schools Athletics Association who entertained us all with anecdotes of coaching hurdles in St Lawrence O’Toole and what might have been at the Tokyo Marathon.

The overall athlete of the year went to Rhasidat Adeleke from Tallaght AC who won two gold medals at the European Youth Olympics in Baku in the summer for the 100m and 200m.
