Clohisey and Mulligan Win National Half Marathon Titles

The GloHealth National Half Marathon was held in glorious sunshine around the streets of the Capital on Monday, 4th of August. Over 800 club athletes joined nearly 7,000 runners for the race with the GloHealth National Championships being run in conjunction with the Rock n Roll Half Marathon.

Raheny Shamrock athlete Mick Clohisey won the senior men’s national title in a time of 1.05.54 ahead of team mate Freddy Keron (Raheny Shamrock AC) and Sergiu Ciobanu of Clonliffe Harriers AC placed third.

Scott Overall from the UK was the first athlete across the line as he finished in a time of 1.05.19.

Sarah Mulligan (DSD) dominated the women’s race in a time of 1.16.02 with Ailish Malone (Clonliffe Harriers) second and Norah Newcombe (Ballina AC) third. Mulligan will now focus her attentions on the marathon where she will represent Ireland in the marathon cup event at the European Track and Field Championships in Zurich on the 16th of August.
