AAI NATIONAL LEAGUE ROUND 2
Sunday July 31st
TUS Athlone
Sarah Quinn’s times have continued to tumble this summer and the St Colmans South Mayo athlete will be one to watch out for in the 100m and 100mH. Quinn posted a 12.07 100m last weekend in Tullamore and is sure to be back sub 12 soon.
Irish Paralympian’s Mary Fitzgerald (Gowran AC) and Jordan Lee (Killaren Valley AC) are also set to return to action in Carlow. Fitzgerald will go in the shot while Lee returns to the high jump, no doubt buoyed by taking his first national title at the recent U23 championships in Tullamore..
Sunday July 31st
SETU - Carlow Athletics Track
Joan Healy (Leevale AC) returns from international action at the World Athletics Championships last week and is set to take her place in the blocks of the 100m in Carlow. Healy ran an 11.41 (+2.9) at the Cork City Sports Meet earlier this month and will be looking to carry some of that Oregon high to Carlow on Sunday.
Joseph Ojewumi (Tallaght AC) is another to look out for in the sprints events. Tallaght AC continue to produce starts of Irish sprinting and Ojewumi will be hoping to go even faster than the 10.29 (+4.4) clocked at the AAI Games last weekend.
There’ll be no shortage of quality in the field events and the St Abbans pair of Ruby Millet and Saragh Buggy could provide the highlight of the day in the long jump. Millet has been in sparkling form in recent weeks and will be hoping for some favourable wind conditions having posted a 6.63 (+3.1m/s) last weekend (6.62i NR Kelly Proper 2010).
