Biofreeze Athletics Ireland Race Series - Athletics Ireland

Athletics Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of the 2025 Biofreeze Race Series. This year’s series will include the Biofreeze Irish Runner 5k, Biofreeze Irish Runner 5 Mile, and Biofreeze Irish Runner 10 Mile.  

These events will be chip timed. Each race include a finishers medal. There will be an option to purchase a race t-shirt at the registration stage. 

Non-Athletics Ireland Members will require a One Day License to take part in these events. This can be added when registering.

  • Biofreeze Irish Runner 5K: May 17th 2025
  • Biofreeze Irish Runner 5 Mile: June 29th 2025
  • Biofreeze Irish Runner 10 Mile: July 20th 2025

Suitable for: This plan is designed for those transitioning from walking to jogging, focusing on gradual progression without structured speed work.

  • Plan 2 : Beginner Runners

Suitable for: Runners currently running 3 times per week / ~10 miles per week.

  • Plan 3 – Intermediate Runners

The BiofreezeAthletics Ireland Race Series consists of 3 different races covering 3 different distances; The BiofreezeIrish Runner 5k, The BiofreezeIrish Runner 5 Mile and The BiofreezeIrish Runner 10 Mile.

For virtual results you will be required to;

  • Complete the distance anytime during dates indicated above.
  • Submit your time via our online portal after completing your run – Details will be emailed in the week prior on how to complete this.
  • Have Fun 🙂
  • You medal will be posted to you in the run up to the event – so don’t forget to grab a buddy to meet you at your Virtual Finish Line!

 Submitted race results will be published on the virtual leaderboard.

Athletics Ireland guidelines are the following:   

Minimum Ages on the day of event for Permitted Run, Jog, Walk Events.   

  • Minimum Age of 13 for events up to 5km (National Championships Age: 16 years of age or over on the 31st of December in the year of competition) 
  • Minimum Age of 15 for event up to 10km (National Championships Age: 18 years of age or over on the 31st of December in the year of competition) 
  • Athletes must be 18 years of age or over on 31st December in the year of competition to compete in events of 10,000m and over

Yes, if you would like to fundraise with Athletics Ireland for a charity close to your heart, please nominate your chosen charity in the drop down menu when registering.   

After you have completed your online registration, you will receive an email with a link to your page. Thank you for your support. 

The Board of Athletics Ireland is establishing the requirement for all non-AAI members participating in permitted Athletics Ireland recreational events to purchase a €2 one day licence (ODL).   

All revenue generated from this initiative will directly support the delivery of our high-performance programme. Further fundraising initiatives are also being considered by the Board to support the continued development of our sport.

Yes, if you are a member of an Athletics Ireland Club you can input your AAI member number to have your club included in your result and to be part of the National Championships. If you have any queries on our National road race competitions, please email competition@athleticsireland.ie.

To submit your time, you must login into your Eventmaster booking and select the submit race time option.There you will be able to input your time and provide a proof of that time also.

You can upload a screen shot of your time with distance taken from your phone if you used an app such asStrava, Map My Run, Nike Run, and Run Keeper, or this can be a picture of your GPS watch used to track your walk/run.You can also provide a URL to link to you run/walk proof.

For the physical event in the Phoenix Park, the results can be found at www.myrunresults.ie. For the Virtual event, you can view your results on our live leaderboard. Details of where to find this will be emailed to you before the event.

You can complete your run on a course that’s convenient to you. You should plan your run/walk route before starting your event. We would advise you to complete your walk/run on footpaths/pathways.
