Ireland’s next generation of athletics stars return to Tullamore this weekend for the final two days of what has been an exhilarating 2025 Juvenile Track and Field Championships.

Saturday (July 12th) will see athletes return to the Tullamore venue for day 3 of the 123.ie National Juvenile Track and Field Championships, while Sunday (July13th) will offer a second helping with the 123.ie National Juvenile B Championships and Interclub Relays taking centre stage.

123.ie National Juvenile Championships Day 3 – Saturday July 12th

Day 3 of the 123.ie National Juvenile Track and Field Championships promises a thrilling showcase of youth athletics, with events spanning hurdles, 200m sprints, and 1500m finals on the track. Action in the field will be concentrated on the shot put, javelin, long jump, triple jump, and high jump. The action kicks off at 10:00 am in Tullamore, with check-in opening at 8:30 am.

Key Highlights:

  • Hurdles Action Begins at 10:00 am:
Featuring U19–U15 boys and girls across 400mH, 300mH, and 250mH categories. The senior races should be a compelling watch with Ethan Dewhirst of Tír Chonaill AC (U19)  just one of the rising 400m hurdlers to look out for.
  • 200m Sprint Heats from 12:30 pm:
U14–U19 boys and girls will compete in heats, with finals scheduled at 4:00 pm (or held at heat time if heats are not required). The U19 races should see Lemar Lucciano (West Coast AC) and Katie Doherty (Ratoath AC) battling it out for sprint honours in their respective finals once more, while Joe Burke (Templemore AC) and Erin Friel (Letterkenny AC) are entered but are targeting EYOF.
  • 1500m Finals from 1:30 pm:
All age groups from U14 to U19 will contest their finals over the middle-distance. Expect strong showings from Caolan McFadden (Cranford AC) U19 and Odhran McBrearty (Finn Valley AC) U18. The U19 and U18 girl’s races look hard to call with the entry lists likely cut up somewhat on the back of injury and European selections.
  • Field Events Throughout the Day:
Triple Jump, High Jump, Long Jump, Javelin, and Shot Put will run in parallel with track events. Ryan Onoh (Leevale AC) and Conor Penny (Craughwell AC) could jump off in the U18 men’s high jump, which Michael Kent (DMP AC) will look to add to his growing reputation in the U19 long jump. Multi-eventer Enya Silkena (Ratoath AC) is set to go in the U19 long jump competition.

There will be no shortage of exciting talent in the throws with Theo Hanlon (Suncroft AC) and Caoimhe Gallen (Lifford Strabane) likely to take some stopping in their respective U19 shot put competitions.

The B Championships and Inter-Club Relays will serve up an action-packed schedule of sprint heats, middle-distance finals, and exciting relay showdowns. The day begins at 10:00 am in Tullamore, with check-in opening at 8:30 am.
