Sean Hehir of Metro St Brigids has secured the National 50k title in Donadea this afternoon. Hehir was the only athlete to break 3 hours, crossing the finish line in a brilliant 2:56:04 in what were increasingly tough conditions.

Gary O’Hanlon (M45) was second for Clonliffe Harriers in 3:00:55, and Raivis Zakis (M40) forWest Waterford A.C. was third in 3:11:11.

Sorcha Loughnane secured the women’s title in a storming display which saw her finish over 20 minutes ahead of her nearest rival. The Donore Harriers athlete cross the finish line in 3:20:33.

Deirdre Martin of Carrick on Shannon AC was second in 3:40:59, with Laura Driscoll third in 3:44:54.
