Sarah Lavin goes sub 13 seconds


Sarah Lavin became only the second Irish women in history to break 13 seconds over 100m hurdles thanks to a stunning performance at the Continental Tour Meet in Madrid today. The Emerald AC athlete posted a 12:95 PB to finish in second place in the final of the 100m hurdles at the Vallehermoso Stadium. Lavin joins Derval O’Rourke in running under 13 seconds and now has sights firmly focused on Olympic qualidfication. The result saw Lavin storm up the rankings lists and could be enough for a spot in Tokyo depending on results over the next 7 days.

Mark English was also in action at the Madrid Meet. The Finn Valley AC athlete clocked a seasons best of 1:45.22 as he continues his road to Tokyo qualification. The time was just outside of his National Record and see's the Donegal athlete looking in peak form at just the right time.
