The AAI National Outdoor League Final takes place this Sunday (July 28th) at Tullamore Harriers Stadium, where all eyes will on whether any clubs can stop last year’s defending champions.
Sunday’s action is set for a 10.30am start with the premier and division 1 competitions expected to be ultra-competitive.
Leevale (Men) and Dundrum South Dublin (Women) will look to defend their 2023 premier titles, with a strong challenge also expected from DSD in the men’s competition.
Leevale managed to stop Clonliffe’s drive for 8-in-a-row in the premier competition last year, collecting their first national league title since 2014 with a team packed with some of Ireland most exciting young talent.
Dundrum South Dublin retained their premier title impressively in the women’s competition last year with six wins contributing to their victory over second place Clonliffe. Another bold showing from the Dubliner’s can be expected once again on Sunday.
The 2023 men’s D1 title went to Raheny on the back of a stunningly display which saw them pick up nine wins across the day, headlined by Mark Smyth’s sprinkling of star power in the 100m (10.57) and 200m (20.77). Raheny will once again be one the likely favourites to take the title alongside Lagan Valley and KCH.
The women’s D1 title is often an open affair, last year seeing Tullamore Harriers come out on top in a toe-to-toe dual with Lagan Valley for top spot. This year’s competition looks just as competitive with strong challenges from Rathfarnham, LSA, and Tir Chonaill expected.
