The sixteen strong team who represented the Irish Schools Athletics Association at the Combined Event International in Cardiff, Wales last weekend brought home a number of medals when they returned to Dublin Airport yesterday. 

In the Junior Girls event, Ruby Cummins (Colaiste Na Toirbhirte Bandon) won an individual bronze medal, amassing 3385 points across the five events. This was just five points off silver. Cummins achieved three personal bests in total. 

Elle Kate McRae (Scoil Mhuire Cork) was 13th, Marianne O'Farrell (Balmayne ETSS) finished 14th, while Emma Edmundson (Sancta Maria College Louisburg) finished 15th. 

There was both individual and team success for the Irish Junior Boys. 

Daniel Downey (St Mary's CBS Portlaoise) secured personal best's in four out of his five events to claim a hard-earned bronze medal. 

The excellent performances of teammates Ryan Onoh (Ashton Cork) who was sixth, Wojciech Fraczek (Midleton CBS) who came eighth and Cillin Hoey (Colaiste Iosagain Portarlington) who finished 12th helped the Irish to silver team medals. 

Joining them on second place on the rostrum were the Irish Intermediate Girls team. 

Tara O'Connor (St. Vincent's Dundalk) was the top Irish finished, coming fourth. Hannah Falvey (SMGS Blarney) was seventh, Meabh O'Connor (St. Vincent's Dundalk) finished eighth and Enya Silkena (St. Louis Dundalk) came 11th. 

The Intermediate Boys won team bronze as Eoin O'Callaghan's (Hamilton HS Bandon) fourth placed individual finish earned valuable points. O'Callaghan achieved three personal bests on the day. 

Shane McGrath (Ashbourne C.S.) and Séan Doggett (Coláiste an Eachréidh) also placed inside the top ten, finishing ninth and tenth respectively, while Finn Campbell (Summerhill College Sligo) was 12th.
