A Wave Of Blue Runs Through Dublin On A Day Of Remembrance

POSTED:

Celebration Run in Dublin

Thousands of runners took to the streets of Dublin early this morning for the Dublin Remembers 1916 5k Run.

There was a carnival atmosphere at Mountjoy Square where over 4,000 runners took to the roads of Dublin at 8am. A sea of blue meandered through the heart of the city with the majority of the participants bedecked in the blue technical t-shirts they got for entering the event.

The took runners took in some of Dublin City’s most iconic sites passing the GPO, Liberty Hall, Rosie Hackett Bridge, the Four Courts and finishing at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham exactly 100 years ago to the day of the Easter Rising.

Karol Cronin (Sportsworld) and Anna Sadowska (Civil Service Harriers) were the first finishers. You can find a selection of photographs by Sportsfile on the day on the Athletics Ireland Facebook page HERE
