Training camp for Leinster Track & Field Performance Squad


Athletics Ireland is pleased to announce a pilot Training camp for Leinster Track and Field Performance Squad athletes on February 15th and 16th in Athlone IT. This is a residential camp with athletes and coaches staying at the Creggan Court Hotel, Athlone.  This initiative is supported by Leinster and Dublin Athletics and AAI. It will be led by Colin Byrne (Regional Development Officer) . A team of qualified and experienced coaches will lead the athletes in the various events as on previous Leinster T+F Performance Squads with the aim of enhancing T+F athletics at regional level.

Start at 11am on February 15th and finish at 4pm February 16th

Registration closes on Friday February 2nd.


Key aspects of the Performance Camp will include the following:

2 day overnight Training Camp for athletes ( 1 training session each day)
Personal coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend and interact with lead coaches
Educational workshops incorporating key areas such as S&C, Sports Psychology, Nutrition & Hydration, Planning, Goal Setting, Lifestyle, Biomechanics
A strong training emphasis at these camps with athletes working together in events groups
A chance for personal coaches and lead coaches to interact and share training ideas
Recreational activities

All selected athletes must now go to the link above and register their place on the squads by Friday 2nd February. We would very much appreciate peoples support on making sure this registration process is done quickly and the full details requested are filled in. Following this I will be communicating with the coaches and parents with the full details of the camp. Please ensure that the athlete’s e mail, a parent’s e mail and the coach’s e mail are provided on the registration form.
