Athletics Ireland has a mission to support and develop the athletes of Ireland of all ages, disciplines and abilities.

Athletics Ireland CEO John Foley said “It is a historic moment for athletics in Ireland to hit 50,000 members. Our growth can be attributed to our many programmes including our Little Athletics and Fit4Life programmes developed by our regional development team and of course our volunteer base who serve as passionate ambassadors for our sport. Our number one strategic priority is to continue to grow our sport and to be at 60,000 members by 2016. Our growth will come from working together in each club and county to convince children and adults to join athletics clubs which are run well from governance and coaching, Also, our continued focus on recreations events is key to achieving growth.”
