Irish Runner 5 mile set for another great day in the Park

The Irish Runner 5 mile which incorporates the national road title takes place tomorrow (June 15) in the Phoenix Park.

This is the second race of the Irish Runner race series which kicked off with the 5k and saw clubs take to the roads of the park for a mix of competition and camaraderie.

It promises to deliver another great day of racing with Olympian Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrock) heading the entries.

In the women’s race Aine O’Reilly (Mullingar Harriers), who was first F40 in the 5k, is a potentially in contention for the overall win. Niamh O’Sullivan (An Riocht) was the first F55 at the last event and will be looking to retain that title.

Zoe Quinn leads a large entry for Raheny Shamrock and she will be aiming to place well individually and combine for a strong team showing.

Mick Clohisey is back into the full swing of racing since the London marathon and will look to add another national title to his burgeoning treasure chest of medals.

Emmet Jennings (DSD) has been training in the heights of Kenya for the last 9 months and will be looking for a strong showing in the more oxygenated environs of the Phoenix Park.

Other likely suspects include Mark McKinstry (North Belfast Harriers) and Sean Hehir (Rathfarnham WSAF). It promises to be another great day in the park.
