Frank Greally was on hand to officially launch the 2022 Remembrance Run 5k today – the unique and hugely popular Walk or Run event that takes place in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, November 13th.

This year’s Remembrance Run will see people come together and ‘fondly remember’ all those who we have lost. This special event includes a morning of Choirs, Music, Song, Commentary, and a Special Wall of Remembrance.

A special focus of this year’s event will be to remember the many stalwarts of Irish athletics who have passed in recent years, as well the giants of journalism who gave so much to the sport of athletics in Ireland.

Frank Greally, who in association with Athletics Ireland in 2012 founded the Remembrance Run 5k said: “The Remembrance Run 5K started out in memory of my dear friend Con Houlihan, and it seems fitting that we use this year, which marks his 10-year anniversary, to fondly remember all of those giants of journalism who gave so much joy to us over the years. Con and I often talked about remembrance and how we all have a primal need to be remembered even in some small way.”

“This year’s Remembrancer will give us all an opportunity to pause, remember and celebrate the memory of loved ones - family and friends passed. The athletics community has lost some incredible people in recent years, and we want to use November 13th as an opportunity to come together and honour these people in our own special way”.

If you would like to share a special memory of a loved one or add some names to our online Remembrance Wall, you can do so by emailing:

Any proceeds made from this event go towards supporting The Daily Mile Ireland which encourages children to stay active and healthy by engaging in 15 minutes of exercise during the school day.
