Take part in the Family Mile

Families are invited to sign up to the 2021 Family Mile supported by Sport Ireland as part of the European Week of Sport which will this year takes place between September 23rd and 30th. European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity in countries across Europe.

This year will see both a physical and virtual event taking place!

  • The physical Family Mile event will be run in Morton Stadium on Sunday 26th September from 12pm – 3pm. This is a FREE to enter event for all the family and you will receive a medal at the end of the run. Click HERE to enter.
  • There will also be a Virtual Family Mile event which will take place throughout the European Week of Sport between September 23rd and 30th. The Virtual Family Mile is completely FREE to enter and participants will receive a certificate of participation. Click HERE to enter.

Clubs who wish to host their own local family mile on Sunday September 26th should contact summercamps@athleticsireland.ie .

The week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, the aim is to inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more.

Being Active leads to:

  • Confidence
  • Increase in productivity

Athletics Ireland and Sport Ireland are now calling on all families around the country to get involved and #BeActive by joining us Sunday 26th September in Morton Stadium for our Family Mile event or by getting out to walk or run a mile in their locality between September 23rd – 30th for our Virtual Family Mile.

Everyone taking part in the Family Mile is encouraged to tag @sportireland and @irishathletics/@athleticsireland in their social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter while using the hashtag #BeActive.
