It promises to be an exciting weekend of racing at the Irish Life Health National Road Relays in Raheny this Sunday (Oct 3rd).

The road relays will once again take place in Raheny on its now familiar fast lap starting on Wades Avenue before rounding onto the Howth Road by St. Annes Park and finishing back on Wades Avenue.

The masters’ women get action underway at 2.00pm followed by the men at 2.30pm, senior women at 3.00pm and finishing off with the senior men at 3.30pm.

Defending women's champions Donore Harriers don’t appear on the entry list so this paves the way for a new winner in 2021.

Raheny Shamrock will be no doubt be in contention come the final strides, as will Clonliffe Harriers who have Emma Mitchell among the entries.

Dublin City Harriers can boast Olympian Nadia Power to call upon alongside the ever-consistent Jodie McCann as DCH look to go one better than their 2019 result.

Raheny also look to have a strong hand in the F35 in the absence of 2019 champions St Finbarrs AC. Finn Valley won the F35 in 2018 and another bold showing can be expected from the Donegal club in what looks an open encounter.

Defending F50 champions Raheny Shamrock will be favourites to retain their crown with Adrienne Atkins and Annette Kealy set to lead the team.

Defending senior men’s champions Raheny Shamrock look to have another ultra-strong line up in the men’s event with Cillian Kirwan, Gavin Eccles, Kieran Kelly and Daniel Stone set to start.

They won’t have it all their own way however with several teams looking to have a chance on paper including the Harriers of Donore and Clonliffe who will look to stars Efrem Gidey and Louis O’Loughlin to boost their medal prospects respectively.

Defending M35 Donore Harriers will be looking to back up their 2018 and 2019 gold medal performances, while the M50 competition looks wide open with 2019 champions St Finbarr’s not in the 2021 line-up.

The road relays have a habit of providing plenty of thrills and spills and there will be no shortage of excitement as Raheny once again plays host to these national championships.
