Munster Star Awards 2014
The Munster Star Awards Banquet hosted by the Cork County Board took place in the Blarney Golf Resort Hotel on Saturday 31st January 2015. 2014 has been an incredibly successful year for Munster athletes on the International & National stage & the Awards night was a chance to honour some of those athletes with presentations made by Athletics Ireland President, Ciarán Ó’Catháin & Munster Athletics Chairman, Mossie Woulfe.
The International Award went to Joe Gough, West Waterford A.C. for his world class performances in 2014. Special Achievement Awards were won by Michelle Finn, Leevale A.C., Siobhan O’Doherty, Borrisokane A.C. & Laura Crowe, An Riocht A.C. (Bronze European Cross Country medallists), Phil Healy, Bandon A.C., Kelly Proper, Ferrybank A.C. & Sarah Lavin, UCD/formerly Emerald A.C. (European 4 x 100m Relay who set a new National Record), Louise Shanahan, Leevale A.C. (6th800m, World Youth Olympics) & Adam King, Iveragh A.C. (8th Hammer, World Youth Olympics). Two long time stalwarts of Munster Athletics were also presented with awards, Dan McCarthy, East Cork A.C. won the “2014 Hall of Fame Award” & Michael Gregan, Tramore A.C. was presented with the “Patsy O’Connor Award” for Outstanding Official.
