Athletics Ireland is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Board member, John Allen MBE (RIP). We extend our deepest condolences to John’s family, to Athletics Northern Ireland, where he served for many years in various roles, including CEO, to the Belfast Marathon, of which he was a founding member and served as Chair in recent years, and to his beloved club, Willowfield Temperance Harriers, where he was a member for six decades.
A talented athlete, an exceptional event organiser and administrator, John will be fondly missed by his family and by so many in the sport he loved.
