Six broadcasters to show coverage of U23 Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. In a welcome sign of the time for European Athletics, six broadcasters have committed to show coverage from this week’s European Athletics U23 Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. Through its partnership with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), coverage has been secured in the host country, Hungary, as well as in Italy, Belgium, Russia, Cyprus and the pan European broadcaster, Eurosport. Christian Milz, Director General of European Athletics said “This is great news and further proof of the popularity of our sport across the continent.” “In 2003, Yelena Isinbayeva and Carolina Kluft won European Athletics U23 titles, and 12 months later both were crowned Olympic champions in Athens, so there is no doubt that the future stars of the sport will be on show in Debrecen” The championships begin on Thursday July 12 and run until Sunday July 15.
