Energetic day in Tullamore

A bluer sky and a bundle of energy provided an engaging day of sport in Tullamore at the GloHealth National Juvenile Games & Combined Events U14+U16 & U9-U11 Relays today (July 3rd).

Dooneen, Leevale and Bandon were among the clubs to feature heavily in the U9-U11 relays with Midleton, Derg and Claremorris also leaving their imprint in fast and furious relays. For results of the day's action go to the results section HERE

All the boys and girls performed their best in a friendly competitive environment with starting official Ina Killeen highlighting to the children their good performances to make it to Tullamore and to ‘wear a smile on their face and to have fun.’

In the multi events there were some impressive performances with Leevale’s Reece Ademola winning the U14 boys with a total of 2498 points: 11.98 in the 75m hurdles,  1.74m in the high jump which was an age record,  5.18m in the long jump, 8.59m in the shot put and 2:53.68 in the 800m. Joseph McEvoy (Nenagh Olympic) was another standout in the U16 boys with 3,647 points: 13.81 in the 100m hurdles, 1.95m in the high jump, 6.16m in the long jump, 12.32m in the shot put and 2:20.23 in the 800m.

Jennifer Hanrahan (Brothers Pearse A.C.) won the U14 girls multis with 2814 points: 13.11 in the 75m hurdles, 1.50m in the high jump, 5.05m in the long jump, 8.73 in the shot and 2:36.27 in the 800m.

Ava Fennessy (Clonmel A.C.) scored the highest girls’ total of the day in the U15s with 2820 points: 13.52 in the 80m hurdles, 1.40m in the high jump, 4.91m in the long jump, 7.94m in the shot and 2:24.69 in the 800m.
