Juveniles day 3 concludes thrilling indoor season

The final day of the 123.ie National Juvenile Indoor Championships in TUS Athlone (April 5th, 2025) delivered yet another thrilling showcase of talent, with multiple Championship Records (CR) broken across relays and field events.

Relay Dominance

The 4x200m events were ablaze with record-breaking performances:

  • KCH smashed the U15 Girls (1:45.73 CR) and U16 Girls (1:43.26 CR) records.
  • DSD stormed to victory in the U19 Boys (1:30.64 CR).
  • Dooneen AC set a new U18 Girls (1:41.74 CR) mark.
  • Ratoath AC were unstoppable, setting records in the U14 Boys (1:45.48 CR), U18 Boys (1:30.36 CR), and U19 Mixed (1:36.41 CR).
  • Belgooly AC ran away to a new record in the U17 Mixed (1:38.21 CR).

Field Event Brilliance

  • Emer Purtill (Dooneen AC) dominated the U17 Girls Shot Put (3kg) with a massive 14.97m.
  • Theo Hanlon (Suncroft AC) threw 16.49m in the U19 Boys Shot Put (6kg).
  • Matt David Duro (Kilmore AC) soared to a U15 Boys Triple Jump CR (12.31m).
  • Florence Harte (Crookstown Millview AC) set a U15 Girls Triple Jump CR (10.26m).
  • High jump victories went to Conor Penney (Craughwell AC, U18 Boys, 1.85m) and Tara O’Connor (Dundalk St. Gerards AC, U19 Girls, 1.70m).

The domestic indoor season has now reached its conclusion, and we look forward to what promises to be another thrilling outdoor season. Athletics Ireland would like to offer a huge thank you to all our volunteers and officials without whom these championships would not be possible.
