Lightening Lynch Breaks National 10-Mile Road Record

7 April 2025

Kilkenny City Harriers athlete Peter Lynch has set a new Irish national 10-mile road record* at the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington DC (April 6th). Lynch finished 7th in 45:59, surpassing the previous record of 46:25, set by Olympic silver medallist John Treacy in 1993. The race was won by Britain’s Charles Hicks in 45:14.

Lynch, who is based in North Carolina, made his marathon debut (2:17:40) in Chicago last year and will be buoyed by this weekend’s performance as he moves up in distance once more.
