Athletics Ireland announce Rachel Ormrod as Director of Participation

Athletics Ireland are delighted to announce Rachel Ormrod as its new Director of Participation.

Rachel will be responsible for leading participation initiatives including development and implementation of a clear, coherent, and cohesive strategy to increase participation levels in all athletics activities in Ireland.

The purpose of the role will be to develop and lead the implementation of a participation strategy for Athletics Ireland. This will include a vision and strategy to drive increased participation levels of all programmes.

This newly created role will report to the CEO and will form part of the management team.

Rachel joins Athletics Ireland from Cycling Ireland where she was Education and Programmes Manager.

An experienced manager and practitioner within participation in sport she looks forward to leading the participation team in Athletics.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to take up the role of Director of Participation with Athletics Ireland.  Athletics is uniquely placed as one of the leading participation sports in Ireland and I look forward to contributing further to its growth potential. It is a very exciting time and to be privileged with the opportunity to drive the area of participation on behalf of Athletics Ireland is an absolute honour.’

Rachel joins Athletics Ireland at the start of the New Year and we welcome her and wish her all the best in her new role in Athletics Ireland.
