Boyce heads performances at European Race Walking Cup

Brendan Boyce (Finn Valley) was the star performer for Ireland at the European Race Walking Cup in Altyus, Lithuania finishing 5th in the men’s 50km in a new personal best of 3:48:13.

This performance should help secure his selection for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Kate Veale (West Waterford) finished 36th in 1:43:08 in the women’s 20km. In the men’s 20km Cian McManamon (Westport) was 21st in 1:24:59, followed by Alex Wright (Leevale) 26th in 1:25:51 and David Kenny (Farranfore Maine Valley) 31st in a new pb of 1:26:50.

There were also good performances in the underage categories with Oisin Lane (Mullingar Harriers) 16th in 45:17 in the U20 men’s 10k and Niamh O’Connor (Celbridge) 23rd in 52:08 in the U20 women’s 10k.
