After last week's very successful National Championships, Morton Stadium hosts the 6th Dublin International Games on Saturday next July 30th. With a fine array of visiting international competitors Irish athletes will have a good opportunity to perform. Paul Hession missed last week championships and he will be anxious to get back into action and he faces formidable opposition with Tim Abeye, German printer Fredrik Helmke who has run 20.50 and Gary Ryan and Paul Brizzel who had a great race last week, as opposition. The women's 200 will see Ciara Sheehy and Emily Maher back in action joined this time by British athlete Joyce Maduka. South African 400 man Marcus LaGrange should provide Tomas Coman with an opportunity to run fast. The women's 1500 was a great race last Sunday and the main protagonists Jolene Byrne and Maria McCambridge will be joined by Sinead Delahunty and Slovenian athlete Sonia Roman who has run 4.08 for the distance. Ciaran O'Connell will be seeking to confirm his status as our leading 800 man but Thomas Chamney will also be in action with Sweden's Fredrick Karlsoon a threat. Eileen O'Keefe has been extending her personal best and the Irish record all season and she may well have to further extend her 68.14 of last week to contend with Hungarian thrower Katalin Divos who has exceeded the 70 metre mark this year. Morton and miling were synomomous and their is a fine field assembled for the Morton Mile. James Nolan will be seeking to build on his 3.37.80 of last week. Colin Costolloe will be in search of Ray Flynn's long standing Irish Junior Record 4.02.6 set in 1976. England's James Thie is a late addition to a field that boasts no fewer than ten athletes who have beaten the still magical four minute mark. Derval O'Rourke will have England's Julie Pratt as she seeks to continue her fine season and Peter Coghlan will also be in search of a fast time in the 110m Hurdles. There is a good mix of development races and international events making a visit to Santry on Saturday afternoon a must for athletics enthusiasts. COMPETITION STARTS @ 15.30.
