The Irish Masters Athletics Association will host the 28th British & Irish Masters International CC Champs in Santry Demesne on Saturday 14th of November.  With 4 races and in excess of 400 Athletes competing, a pretty extensive race schedule will kick off at 11.30am with the ladies race plus Men 65+.

Claire Martin of England will hope to once again lead the field home, having won this event over the past 5 years. However, she should face stiff competition from Masters Debutant, Ann-Marie McGlynn of Ireland plus her teammate & current Irish Masters CC Champion, Natasha Adams.

Maria McCarthy, Cathy McCourt, both W40s, Jackie Carthy W45, Niamh O’Sullivan W50,  Pauline Moran W55, Carmel Parnell W60, Margaret Glavey W65 & Kathleen O’Brien W70, will all be hoping to capture individual medals and also hoping to lead their respective age group team’s home to victory. With the Men 65+ also competing in the opening race, Martin McEvilly will be hoping to retain his M65 title. Former Olympian, Jim McNamara M75 plus teammate, Sean Cooney will all be battling for individual honours.

In race 2 it is expected that Team captain, Mick Traynor M50 will be in contention for Individual honours. However the current World Masters CC Champion will face stiff opposition from a number of teammates, including former senior CC International , Pauric McKinney plus Austin Davies of Wales. Tommy Payne M55 returns after missing 2014 due to illness & will be a serious contender for a top 3 placing. The M60s team will be lead by current champion Paul Elliott, but will have a battle on his hands to stave off World Masters Indoor record holder over 1500m, Brian Lynch. Matt Shields will also pose a serious threat to his teammates.

In race 3, M35 through to M44, previous overall winner from Santry 2010, Peter Matthews will lead the M45 team. Current Irish Masters CC Champion Declan Reed, will also hope to lead the field home, but will face stiff opposition from teammate Ciaran Doherty along with current World Masters silver medallist, John Dunne in the M35 category.

The first race will kick off at 11.30am and will conclude with open Masters CC race at 2pm.
